From Chiloe Island to Patagonia 12 Days – 11 Nights.

Day 1

Santiago – Castro – Dalcahue – Achao

Our journey begins being received at the Castro Airport to be taken to our Hotel.

In the afternoon we will leave in the direction of the Port of Dalcahue, we will visit its World Heritage Church, its small but interesting Museum and if it is Sunday, its Craft Fair where wool works such as vests, blankets, hats and gloves stand out.

Crossing by ferry (04 minutes) to Quinchao Island to reach the town of Curaco de Vélez, where you can taste some oysters while a community of black-necked swans delight young and old.

A short walk to see its old larch houses and then continue to the town of Achao to visit the oldest church in Chiloe whose characteristic is that it was built without nails.

Here we will have the opportunity to enjoy Chilota gastronomy and then continue with our Itinerary.

We will visit some craft shops and then continue to some panoramic viewpoints that will allow you to appreciate a large number of islands in this important archipelago. Return to Castro.

Day 2

Excursion to Chiloé National Park.

After our breakfast, waiting for the weather to accompany us, we will be able to see one of the most beautiful sunrises from our Hotel.

We will go south, participate in an excursion for the day visiting the World Heritage churches of Nercon and Chonchi.

We will continue along an asphalt road, bordering the Huillinco and Cucao lakes, in whose lake towns we will visit cemeteries of little houses, very characteristic of Chiloé.

The visit to the Chiloé National Park includes a visit to the Visitor’s Center and then an attractive walk along the “El Tepual” trail where you will be able to appreciate the typical Chiloé forest. Lunch.

Finally, an encounter with the Pacific Ocean and a walk along the beach, to be returning to Castro at sunset.

Day 3

Castro – Ancud – Puerto Varas.

We will have breakfast at our Hotel Leaving from Castro we head north towards the Coipomo sector to visit an agroecological farm whose owners are concerned about recovering the agricultural biodiversity of Chiloé.

Continuing our tour, we skirt the Chepu River with a unique landscape of sunken forests during the earthquake of the year 60 to later arrive at the Bay of Puñihuil, a secluded cove of fishermen who have known how to maintain their relationship with three islets that make up the only ecosystem in the world where two types of penguins coexist and nest, Humboldt and Magellanic.

We will embark for an observation navigation being able to also admire other marine species such as otters, carancas, cormorants and sea lions. Optional lunch and then we will go to the city of Ancud.

At the agreed time, transfer to Puerto Varas by regular bus to later take our private transfer that will take us to our hotel.

Day 4

Petrohue Falls – Todos los Santos Lake – Osorno Volcano.

We will start our excursion from the city of Puerto Varas bordering Lake Llanquihue until we reach the town of Ensenada, from there we will enter the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park and visit the spectacular Petrohue River Falls.

Later we will go to Todos los Santos Lake to take the Andean Lakes Catamaran and sail for two hours appreciating the beauty of the Osorno, Puntiagudo and Tronador volcanoes.

When we arrive in Peulla, a small ecological village, we will have free time to carry out different activities in the place such as canopy, horseback riding, fishing excursions, jet boat rides and 4×4 safari or enjoy a delicious lunch at the restaurant of the Hotel Peulla (Activities not included ).

In the afternoon, I return to Petrohue to take the route to Ensenada and finally to Puerto Varas. Arrival at our Hotel.

Day 5

Puerto Varas – Punta Arenas – Puerto Natales

Breakfast at our Hotel. If luck is with us, we can see the clear Osorno Volcano which gives us beautiful images before leaving this beautiful city.

Transfer from your hotel to Tepual Airport, flight to the city of Punta Arenas.

Arrival at the Carlos Ibáñez del Campo airport where our staff will be waiting for us to go to the beautiful city of Punta Arenas, one of the southernmost in the world.

Once in the city we will make a city tour where we will visit its main attractions, its Plaza de Armas and the monument to the Patagonian Indian, according to the traditional way when touching the finger of the Indian indicates that one day he will return to Patagonia, we will visit Cerro La Cruz where we will have a panoramic view of the city and the Strait of Magellan along with La Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego.

We can visit its picturesque cemetery with great Yugoslav influence, very close we will end up visiting one of the main emblems of the city such as the monument to the Patagonian Sheepdog, a true icon of the region.

Later we will travel to the city of Puerto Natales, we will have a rich evening and dinner.

Day 6

Puerto Natales – Torres del Paine National Park.

Breakfast at the hotel, today we will make one of the most important excursions of our trip to Torres del Paine, we will begin visiting the Milodon Cave on the way, where well preserved remains of this prehistoric herbivorous mammal have been found that lived there around 12,000 years behind.

From there we continue the trip to Torres del Paine National Park, where we will visit the Laguna Amarga, which stands out for its white edges covered with salt and the variety of birds that visit it, especially flamingos.

Later we will be able to observe the Paine massifs in the company of some Guanacos that abound in the place until we reach the Nordenskjold Lake viewpoint, an ideal view to see Monte Almirante Nieto and the Cuernos del Paine, after this we will arrive at Lake Pehoé, a beautiful colored lake Turquoise from glacial sediments

We will walk to the Salto Grande and we will have incredible views of Monte Paine Grande, Cuernos del Paine, El Francés Glacier and Monte Paine Chico or also known as Almirante Nieto.

After these beautiful moments we will enjoy a well-deserved lunch with a beautiful view of the massifs.

We will continue our walk to the Gray sector, if luck accompanies us we will be able to appreciate more than some Huemul that inhabit the area, upon arrival we will enter a beautiful forest with a large presence of woodpeckers until we reach the shores of Lake Gray where we can make a Hike to the viewpoint of the Gray glacier.

Finally we will return to our vehicle to start our trip to our Hotel inside the Park.

Day 7

Torres del Paine – Optional Excursion

Breakfast at the Hotel. If the weather accompanies us, we will have some impressive postcards of the park and the mountains.

Today we will have the opportunity to choose between 2 of the main circuits within the Park.

Option 1 – Gray Glacier Navigation.

In the morning we will move to the Lago Gray hotel. Navigation to the Gray Glacier is an unmissable excursion. It allows us to enjoy a unique landscape composed of floating icebergs, exuberant vegetation and imposing mountains.

From the Hotel, we arrive in minutes at the Pingo River where we cross its bridge and then cross a native forest. When we reach the shore of the Gray River we will embark. This excursion has a total duration of about 3 hours.

After 1 hour and 15 minutes of navigation, we will be near the feet of the Gray Glacier where we will be able to appreciate from a very short distance all the beauty and magnitude of the ice walls of more than 20 meters that the glacier offers as a spectacle.

Marvel at this accumulation of ancient ice while enjoying a typical Pisco Sour, or if you prefer, a Whiskey on the rocks with ancient ice.

Return to Hotel Lago Gray where we will take our transfer back to our Hotel.

Option 2 – Trekking Base de Las Torres.

To start this excursion we must travel by vehicle to the Laguna Amarga sector, from which point we will start a moderately demanding walk through the Ascencio Valley towards the legendary Torres del Paine.

The first section of our walk will take us next to Monte Almirante Nieto to the Los Vientos pass, where we will have beautiful images of the park, we will continue to Camp el Chileno where we can rest for a moment and then cross dense forests to a point from which is only possible to advance on foot to finally reach an interior lagoon.

On whose waters the imposing granite spiers of Las Torres del Paine are reflected. Under this extraordinary landscape we will enjoy a restful rest and box lunch that will allow us to recover our energy for the return.

Arrival back to the Las Torres hotel where our vehicle will be waiting for us to transfer us back to our Hotel.

Day 8

Zodiac Rio Serrano Navigation – Balmaceda and Serrano Glaciers.

Breakfast at the hotel, later we will move to the small dock of the Rio Serrano where we will take our Zodiac that will take us through the Rio Serrano.

During the journey we will be able to have excellent images of Monte Donoso and Monte Balmaceda, in addition to being able to appreciate Monte Ferrier and the glacier that surrounds it.

At the end of 1:30 hrs we will have to make a change of Zodiac before continuing until we reach the Estancia Balmaceda, while we have a hot tea we will change the boat to go to the Bernardo O’Higgins National Park.

After a 30-minute walk we will have incredible images of the Serrano Glacier, we will be able to enjoy its tranquility accompanied by a hot chocolate until we change the boat and continue the navigation through the Ultima Esperanza fjord towards the Balmaceda and Serrano Glaciers.

On the way, we will see colonies of sea lions and cormorants, until we reach the Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers, where we will dock at the Puerto Toro dock, walking 1,000 meters, through a wonderful native forest and along the shore of the lake.

Day 9

Puerto Natales – Perito Moreno (Tiring Day).

Breakfast at the Hotel, today we will make the Full Day Excursion to the Perito Moreno Glacier. On this excursion we will visit the footbridges of the Perito Moreno glacier.

From El Calafate, we skirt the south side of Lake Argentino, passing at the beginning of the tour through Bahía Redonda where a great variety of birdlife can be observed.

The first 40 km travel through the Patagonian steppe, and then enter Los Glaciares National Park, where the typical arboreal vegetation of the Andean Patagonian forest predominates; Ñirres, Lengas, coihues and others like El Calafate, notros and canelos.

Once on the glacier, we go to the main balcony, and then walk the walkways freely, until the meeting time agreed with the guide.

The walkways offer different perspectives of the glacier from their viewpoints, allowing you to enjoy this incredible natural spectacle. In the afternoon Return to Puerto Natales, arrival around 10:30 p.m.

Day 10

Puerto Natales – Punta Arenas – Fuerte Bulnes.

Breakfast at our Hotel and transfer to the bus terminal to take our bus back to the city of Punta Arenas.

Arrival and reception by our team, from this point we will start a beautiful tour to Fort Bulnes.

On the way we will visit sectors such as: Agua Fresca, Punta Santa Ana, a set of typical buildings and beached warehouses that remind us of the passage of time. We will observe that the landscape shelters abundant wildlife.

Almost when reaching the Fort at the trifurcation of the road, a monolith is located, indicating the Geographical Center of Chile (Arica / South Pole) the detour to the east, accesses the ruins of the city Rey don Felipe, known as Puerto de Hambre .

Finally, the central path leads to the facilities of Fort Bulnes rebuilt in 1943, which recall the Taking of Possession of the Strait of Magellan in 1843. Free time to walk around the place.

We will return to the city of Punta Arenas.

Day 11

Punta Arenas – Magdalena Island Penguins Navigation.

Breakfast at our Hotel, first thing in the morning we will move to the city center to take our tour that will take us to visit the Magdalena and Marta Islands, The eco system that make up the two islands make the visit of both mandatory, while the Island Marta is home to more than 1000 Sea Lions, Cormorants, Skuas, Southern Terns, Antarctic Pigeons and Elephant Seals. Magdalena Island allows interaction with one of the largest colonies of Magellanic Penguins, exceeding 150,000 birds.

During the navigation it is possible to see Austral Dolphins and Toninas Overas. For reasons of wildlife protection, Marta Island is only circumnavigated to admire and photograph the Colony and the diversity of seabirds that live there.On Magdalena Island you can disembark for about an hour, to walk and interact with the colony.

At noon we will return to the city of Punta Arenas and then move to the airport where we will travel back to Santiago. Reception by our team and transfer to your Hotel in the capital.
