The Trekking to the base of Las Torres.
Many of the people who want to go to Torres del Paine undoubtedly dream of the mythical photo at the base of the Torres, one of the main icons of the national park.
What they generally do not tell you is that reaching the base of the Towers is not as easy as it seems and that you will need a great physical effort as well as a lot of patience, do not worry here we will tell you all the details to reach the goal.

Where does it start?
To start the trek you must arrive at the park through the Laguna Amarga sector, after paying your entrance you must indicate that you are going to do the Base de las Torres trail.
You must continue to the welcome center of the Las Torres sector where the walk begins, the first section will take you past the Hotel las Torres and then cross the Ascensio River bridge.
The first part for many is the most complicated, this is due to the excitement of the beginning and the path that has a little more slope, this section lasts at a normal pace of 35 to 40 minutes until the Los Vientos pass.
Paso de Los Vientos (Windy Pass).
From the passing of the winds (very careful since as its name says it is a sector where there is a lot of wind and it is very exposed), you will begin to go down and you will be able to see the Chilean camp where the first important step is usually made.
The second section introduces us between Coigues and Lengas along a very marked path that advances along with the Monte Paine Chico (Also called Almirante Nieto) this section will take you about 30 minutes until you reach the last point.
The Morrena.
The last section is the most difficult physically and in terms of safety, since you will have to climb the so-called Morrena, this is a section of an ascent of approximately 700 meters between stones to be able to reach the base of the Towers.
If there is wind on your day, it is very likely that you have parts that are very exposed to the wind, be very careful in that sense.
If everything goes well within the next 40 to 1 hour of walking, you should be in one of the most incredible landscapes in the world, such as the base of the Towers.
Recommendations:
- Always keep eating, do not wait more than 30 minutes to eat any food.
- You will find water all the way through the large number of slopes that fall from the hills, you can drink with confidence.
- At the base of the Towers, try to keep warm and not stay for too long so as not to get cold.
- Eat, hydrate, and enjoy your effort, you earned it!
